Alex Nasrat - Thank You!
A Carilion Main Lobby Volunteer, Beth O'Brochta, felt so moved by her experience with Alex Nasrat that she shared this comment:
"Hashmatullah Nasrat, known to Carilion/CRMH employees as Alex, is a part of the Interventional Radiology team and often transports patients. He is always friendly, cheerful, and engaging with staff and patients. Approximately two weeks ago, Alex demonstrated his kindness, compassion, and care when he remained with a male patient for 1.5 hours in an effort to locate the gentleman's wife, who had driven him to his appointment. After Alex wheeled the patient down to the lobby, he and the patient looked for the man's wife, but she was not in the lobby. She had her cell phone as well as her husband's phone, and over the course of an hour, Alex telephoned the wife on his personal cell several times, always leaving a message identifying himself and his concern for the woman's husband. During that period, Alex even wheeled the gentleman to the garage parking space where his wife had dropped him off, but the space was empty. Back the duo went to the lobby where Alex asked Guest Services and the Discharge Lounge about any sighting so of the wife, to no avail. At this point, Alex alerted hospital police, and they eventually located the wife.
Alex Nasrat certainly went above and beyond his duty as a transporter with IR that day in order to keep his grateful patient safe and calm during a stressful situation."
Thank you for all you do, Alex!
