10 West’s sustainability efforts help divert 500 pounds of plastic from landfills and obtain new bench for CRMH!
A new bench has been placed by the trolley stop in front of CRMH thanks to 10 West and their commitment to recycling!
The unit worked together to collect 500 pounds of soft plastics generated in their daily work for recycling. Rather than placing the plastic in the trash and having it end up in the landfill, the unit recycled the plastic through the Trex Recycling Program. Upon reaching 500 pounds, they became eligible to receive a bench, made from the recycled material. A collaborative effort between 10 West, Carilion Clinic Design, Sustainability, and Engineering and Maintenance led to the bench being placed in front of CRMH. Staff, patients, visitors, and community members will be able to use this bench while waiting for the trolley or to enjoy a moment in the sunshine!
Thank you, 10 West!
