Volunteers Needed for Electronics Recycling Day

Submitted by kdberry on

An electronics recycling event will be held Saturday, March 28, from 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 2823 Franklin Road SW, Roanoke, VA 24014. We need volunteers!

Volunteer Opportunity

Help make a difference by volunteering at our upcoming electronics recycling event. Volunteers can sign up for 2-hour shifts to assist with collection, traffic flow and logistics—no experience needed. Volunteers who participate in Personify Health will receive a 200-point rewards voucher for completing a two-hour shift.

Every device recycled and every volunteer makes an impact. Improperly disposing of electronic waste can contaminate soil, air and water, leading to health concerns such as cancer.

Important traffic information: Please enter the parking lot via Roberts Road, not via the driveway off Franklin Road. This is a different flow of traffic than the past event. See the map below. We will have volunteers onsite assisting with directions. Please see map below.

Why Volunteer?

Join with other environmentally minded volunteers to help make a difference! Electronics can be a harder-to-recycle item, so you can be a part of a great cause to protect the environment while being a part of a team making a real impact in our community. An event last year saw 855 cars come with items to recycle, totaling thousands of pounds! Every volunteer makes a difference at this event.

Want to make an “extra impact”? Invite your friends and family to drop off their old, recyclable electronics or to volunteer themselves! Questions? Contact Marina Sotelo, Sustainability Manager: mcsotelo@carilionclinic.org
