The Quarter Century Society Adds 110 New Members in 2025

What is the Quarter Century Society? 

The Quarter Century Society (QCS) was formed in 1999 to recognize and honor employees who achieve 25 years or more of continuous service with Carilion. Members receive special recognition when they first achieve membership into the society and at a recognition event hosted once a year. The society is currently made up of 955 employees throughout the organization. 

Welcome Class of 2025! 

This year, we welcomed 110 new members into the Quarter Century Society with a fun celebration and dueling piano show at the Hotel Roanoke for all Quarter Century Society members and their guests. Take a peek at fun videos of them taking a spin in the 360-degree photo booth at this year's celebration! 

The individuals listed below began their careers in 2000—when Coldplay released their debut album, Brad Pitt married Jennifer Aniston and the Jarvik 2000 (the first completely artificial heart that maintains a blood flow and generates a pulse) was first received by a patient.

  • January 2000 – DaVinci system purchase was approved. 

  • Feb. 23, 2000 – CFMH broke ground for a 40,000-square foot medical office building. 

  • May 18, 2000 – Virginia Tech and Carilion Health System unveiled plans to build a biomedical business park along Reserve Avenue. It would be called the Riverside Centre for Research and Technology (now home to VTC, FBRI and Riverside 1 and 3). 

  • June 30, 2000 – CNRV (opened in 1999) operated at close to capacity. 

  • Carilion was named on the “Most Wired" health system list by the American Hospital Association. 

  • CRMH performed 970 cardiac surgeries in the year 2000. 

  • CGCH buried a time capsule to be opened in 2025 commemorating the hospital’s 50th anniversary. A special time capsule opening ceremony will be held on Aug. 22.
