The Deadline for Shine Awards Submissions is Monday, July 7

The Shine Awards recognize people and teams who have made exceptional contributions to Carilion. Between Monday, May 26 and Monday, July 7 we will accept applications for the Quality Awards and nominations for the Values Awards, Medical Excellence Awards, Spark Award and Nancy Howell Agee Award for Distinguished Service.  

Award winners and finalists will be announced at the Shine awards ceremony on Monday, Nov. 10. 

About the Awards

The Quality Awards recognize individuals and teams who have worked on projects to improve the care and services we provide. To submit an application:

• Visit the Quality Awards page to download the application template.
• Complete the application and then submit it through the Microsoft form.

The Values Awards recognize individuals and teams who are exceptional examples of our values—Collaboration, Courage, Commitment, Compassion and Curiosity. One award is given for each value. To nominate a person or team:

• Visit the Values Awards page to learn more about the awards.
• Submit a nomination through the Microsoft form.

The Medical Excellence Awards recognize Carilion physicians and advanced practice providers who demonstrate dedication and provide exceptional care. Awards are given in three categories: physicians, podiatrists, dentists and oral surgeons; advanced practice providers; and residents or fellows. To nominate someone:

• Visit the Medical Excellence Awards page to download the nomination form.
• Complete the form and then submit it through the Microsoft form.

The Spark Award was introduced in 2024. It recognizes an individual who has developed an innovation or driven innovative work that has had a positive impact on patient care. Nominations have the potential to positively impact patients at Carilion and beyond. To nominate someone:

• Complete the Spark Award webform.

The Nancy Howell Agee Award for Distinguished Service (previously called the President's Award) recognizes an individual for extraordinary contributions to Carilion and our mission through their career. To nominate someone:

• Complete the Nancy Howell Agee Award for Distinguished Service Award webform.
