Carilion Clinic offers the newest pacemaker technology for our patients. Dr. Carl Musser is the first in the region to provide the new Abbott Aveir leadless pacemaker system. This system offers all the clinical benefits of traditional pacemaker delivered entirely within the heart with no visible scarring, no lead or pocket-related complications and no arm movement restrictions post-implantation. For a technology that has remained largely unchanged for decades, Aveir is a groundbreaking, new approach.

Congratulations to Dr. Justin Weppner on his new textbook, for which he serves as Associate Editor and author of 7 chapters. Dr. Weppner is a national leader in neurorehabilitation and brain injury care. 

First Transvesical Prostatecomy in our Region!

Congratulations to Charles Daniel, M.D., a Carilion Urologist for performing the first simple transvesical prostatectomy in our region, a procedure that treats various urologic conditions. It was done using the single-port da Vinci robot, a minimally invasive technique that results in fewer incisions and a quicker recovery time.
