Epic News: What's Coming This Spring
Exciting things are happening in Epic!
SlicerDicer Tool Available in Epic Beginning Friday, Feb. 9
SlicerDicer is a powerful analytics tool that transforms Epic data into visual elements such as maps and graphs. It can help you analyze trends, explore large quantities of data, find patients for research studies and more.
On Friday, Feb. 9, the following SlicerDicer data models will be available to most Epic users at Carilion:
- Patients
- Visits
- Referrals
- Denials
- Best Practice Advisories
- Messages (InBasket)
If you have access to SlicerDicer, when you log in to Epic beginning Friday, Feb. 9 you will see a SlicerDicer button under the Reports category:
The first time you open SlicerDicer, you will complete a short tutorial to learn how it works. SlicerDicer automatically determines which data models users can access based on their report groups. If you use Epic and don’t have access on Feb. 9, you will get access as we adopt additional models over the coming year.
If you use Epic, you can learn more about SlicerDicer on the Epic User Web by searching the term SlicerDicer. Most Epic users will have information available on their Learning Homes beginning Feb. 9.
Ambulatory Lab Name Will Be Updated Saturday, Feb. 10
Carilion Labs [6] is being updated to Quest Diagnostics [6] in documentation for the Ambulatory Lab task for all Clinic Collect labs. Quest Diagnostics is the accurate name for the former Carilion Labs sites.
Hyperdrive = Epic Updates
We are moving to a web-based (cloud) version of Epic in the coming months.
The recording of the Jan. 29 Epic Town Hall and the slides from the meeting are now available on the Technology News & Updates hub.
Highlights from the Town Hall:
- The update will go live in phases.
- About 100 users are part of Phase 1, which is going live on Monday, March 11.
- Phase 2 includes most Epic users at CNRV and goes live Monday, April 1.
- All other Epic users will go live on Monday, April 22.
- Training is now available on the Learning Home within Epic for all users.
- Education and Organizational Development will hold just-in-time drop-in sessions in Teams for Phase 1 users. Times for drop-in sessions will be listed on the Technology News & Updates hub calendar. The first drop-in session is Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m.
