Congratulations to Dr. Lee Jones from Carilion Clinic Dental Care for winning a $25 gift card in our 2nd quarter phish reporting campaign. Each quarter, the Information Security Team randomly selects a user who reported a phishing email using the "Report Phish" button on Outlook to receive a $25 gift card of their choice. Reporting suspected phishing helps us block similar emails and gives you a chance to win a prize! By having the Courage to report suspicious emails, you all help keep Carilion Clinic and our patients' data safe.

Lost Phone

Submitted by castores on

Officer Scott Bedell went above and beyond on Wednesday, July 2nd, when a patient lost their cell phone while being seen in the CRBH ED the night before. The patient and their family called very concerned with trying to locate the phone. After staff tirelessly searched the unit, it was feared it had gotten lost in the linen and had been sent to the basement ready to be taken to be laundered. Officer Bedell offered to go to the basement and look through the dirty linen.... where it was found! Thank you, Officer Bedell, for always going above and beyond for our patients and staff.

Submitted by embankston on

On June 29, during a travel baseball game in the rural town of South Boston, the umpire collapsed due to heat exhaustion. He became unresponsive and lost his pulse.

Sarah Henshaw, the most medically qualified person on-site, immediately took charge of the situation and led the resuscitation efforts until emergency services arrived.

Thanks to Sarah’s swift response, the umpire was transported to the hospital and had a successful outcome.

Our CFMH CRNA lead, Cindy Linenthal and our surgical technologist, Vandalina Holcomb, recently traveled to Guatemala for a mission trip in which they provided surgical care to patients, adults and children, who required some sort of surgical intervention. See below what Cindy says about her trip. This was Cindy's third year and she plans to continue in the future.

See below a wonderful interview that Cindy participated in with the Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetist.
