Nice work Michelle Helmick (Nuc Med) while rounding on our patients she learned there was not information to help patient know to call if there is a delay and/or no one has helped them.  Adding a sign for patients to call us if more than 10 minutes past apt time allowed a patient that did not get registered get help.  Nice work in adding the sign and supporting our patients.

I would like to give a BIG shout out to the entire CPM department for all of the hard work that went into making all of the offsite Carilion sites safe for all of us and the needs of our patients during the bad weather.

Ramil with transport at CNRV went above and beyond to help us CT techs with a difficult patient by preventing a potential fall that would further their injuries. He stayed for the entire exam and even helped us after we were done without anyone asking him to. His hard work and dedication didn't go unnoticed! Thank you Ramil! We appreciate you!

In recognition of outstanding service, Don Halliwill presented Leah Britton the Carilion Clinic Challenge Coin during the Systemwide Radiology Leadership Huddle on Thursday, January 22nd. Leah is recognized with the Carilion Clinic Challenge Coin for intervening in a tenuous patient situation, as well as demonstrating compassion, leadership and connection with her patients during their most vulnerable times.

A HUGE shoutout to Jan Winand, 4S PACU CA, for volunteering to pick up several staff members and bring them to work. She named her truck the Snuber and braved the winter weather to ensure our team members felt safe getting to work. Jan even picked up an extra shift on Monday, gave rides to people she saw walking to the hospital, and came in on her day off to drop folks off. Jan is always looking out for others, and PACU (and the whole hospital!) is so grateful for her!

I want to give thanks to one of our own to Kayla. Kayla showed amazing courage braving the snow to help Wes and I, and for that I will be forever grateful

Hello I would like to shout out Erin Price for her courage to do what u do for your co workers by helping out in all areas when needed u always keep a smile on your face and take pride in your job keep up the good work it doesnt goes unnoticed im so glad to have a employee like u.

When an EMS box was returned to pharmacy for replacement late in the afternoon, Kim quickly refilled it and realized that there was a mismatch on what drugs were documented as administered versus what drugs were missing in the box. She alerted the pharmacist who in turn spoke with the ED provider who was then able to adjust the ordered medications and successfully care for the patient without delay.  Thank you, Kim for your acute attention to detail and for speaking up for medication safety!

Honoring Our Heroes 

Tuesday, our Hospice team proudly honored veterans across Southwest Virginia through heartfelt pinning ceremonies as part of our partnership with We Honor Veterans (WHV). 

At Runk & Pratt in Franklin County, we shared music, gratitude, and healing with patriotic songs from our music therapists, touching words from our social worker and volunteer coordinator, and a meaningful pinning led by our Vet to Vet volunteers.
