New YES Program Launches This Spring
We announced a new program in 2022 that gives participants needed tools and support to successfully meet educational and career goals.
Now, YES (Your Efforts, Supported) will open the application process Jan. 16 – 27 to accept the program’s first five participants.
YES is a Carilion-funded and donor-endowed program that helps participants learn, earn additional certifications and further their education to meet career goals—all while helping us fill important positions within our organization. Ultimately, the program can help you move into higher paying roles that improve your financial well-being.
How Does YES Work?
- If you are an entry-level employee and the degrees and certifications available through YES interest you, apply!
- If you are accepted into the program, you will spend time with (shadow) someone in the role you choose to make sure it’s a good fit for you.
- Once you’ve selected the role you want to pursue, you’ll work with the senior education consultant and YES programs navigator, Natasha Saunders, to determine your custom path in the program.
- You’ll work to earn your degree or required certification needed for your new role while working a reduced workload at Carilion.
- Then you start your new career at Carilion!
Is YES for You?
Entry-level employees from any Carilion facility can apply for the spring 2023 cycle. Five participants will be accepted during this first cycle.
“We are looking forward to growing this program for Carilion," says Tara Wiedeman, senior director of Education and Organizational Development and one of the program developers.
“The program is designed to help individuals who otherwise would not have the resources to further their education,” says Natasha Saunders. “It really is a fantastic program that will significantly impact the employees who participate.”
