Drs. Cheri and David Hartman present at ACRP on their ED Bridge to Treatment Program

The Virginia Chapter of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) held its Fall Symposium in Charlottesville, VA on November 11, 2022. Drs. Cheri and David Hartman from the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health gave the inaugural Miranda West Memorial Keynote Lecture. The title of the lecture was "ED Bridge to Opioid Treatment: Outcomes Drive Replication Effort." The Hartmans presented the data from their Quality Study demonstrating the positive impact the program has had on our substance use disorder (SUD) community. This program connects individuals from the community who have Opioid Use Disorder and present to our ED with more direct care in our Office-Based Addition Therapy (OBAT) clinic, providing multi-dimensional support by initiating medication therapy within the ED, providing quicker access to psychiatric care, group and individual therapy, care coordination, and support from our peer-recovery specialists. The project was recently reviewed with the Virginia Department of Health and plans are underway to replicate the program in eight other locations in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Please join us in congratulating them on their continued success with this program and their efforts to mitigate the opioid epidemic within our community.  Their efforts truly embody all of Carilion's values.
