Updated Email Banners Make It Easier To Identify Phishing

Several years ago, we introduced yellow banners at the top of emails from non-Carilion senders. The banners will remind you to be cautious about engaging with email that comes from outside our organization.

On July 5, we will introduce two new color-coded banners.

Yellow banners will indicate the email may be suspicious. You’ll continue to see yellow banners on email from non-Carilion addresses. If you think the email is suspicious, click the Report Suspicious button within the banner.

The yellow banner notifies you that the message is fron an external sender.

Orange banners will indicate the email is suspicious. If you see an orange banner, click the Report Suspicious button within the banner.

The orange banner displays a warning message notifying you that the sender may be an imposter.

Yellow email banners alert you to be cautious about engaging with emails from outside our organization.  

Beginning July 5, emails from non-Carilion addresses will have a yellow banner to indicate the email may be suspicious, or a new orange banner to indicate the email is suspicious.

Click Report Suspicious in the banner to report a suspicious email or one you think may be suspicious.
