Parking Changes, Road Closings and Detours for Carilion Clinic IRONMAN 70.3

The Carilion Clinic IRONMAN 70.3 Virginia's Blue Ridge takes place Sunday, June 5. Following are parking changes, road closures and detours that may affect your route to CRMH and Riverside beginning next Thursday, June 2, and through race weekend.

Road and Parking Restrictions

Monday, May 30, through Saturday, June 4:

  • Parking will be prohibited on eastbound Reserve Avenue.

Thursday, June 2, through Sunday, June 5:

  • Parking will be prohibited in the Honeytree Early Learning Center paved and gravel lots.

Sunday, June 5:

  • Parking will be prohibited on all of Reserve Avenue.
  • Reserve Ave. will be closed to traffic from 2:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wiley Drive will be closed to traffic and parking prohibited from 2:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Franklin Road and Crystal Spring Avenue.
  • Walnut Avenue will be closed from Jefferson Street to Hamilton Terrace.
  • Jefferson Street will be closed between Walnut Avenue and Weller Avenue near the CRMH entrance.
  • Northbound and southbound traffic should use Franklin Road.
  • McClanahan Street, Crystal Spring Avenue, Belleview Avenue and Hamilton Terrace will be open to traffic.

On Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4, access to Riverside will not be restricted. However, if you usually park in the Riverside Garage, please use either Terrace View, the Riverwalk Deck or the open area behind the hospital on those days to provide spaces for our racers and visitors to park. If you must park in the Riverside Garage, please note that the Jefferson Street entrance will be closed. All vehicles will have access to the garage via Reserve Avenue.

Patients, employees and students will be able to use the Riverside Garage on Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4. On race day, Sunday, June 5, Riverwalk Garage levels two through five will be open for employee parking. Riverwalk level 1 will be for IRONMAN parking pass holders only. Also, the Crystal Spring Garage will be for IRONMAN parking pass holders only.

IRONKIDS is for youngsters up to age 17 to participate in competitive outdoor activities in a family-centered atmosphere at IRONMAN Village at River’s Edge Park. Register your young racers and join us at 6 p.m. on June 3 to cheer on our youngest competitors in the IRONMAN tradition!
