New YES Program Will Benefit Employees
YES (Your Efforts, Supported) is a Carilion-funded program that paves a path for participants to learn, earn additional certifications and further their education to meet career goals—all while helping us fill important positions within our health system. Ultimately, the program can help you move into higher paying roles that improve your financial well-being.
If you are an entry-level employee with one or more years of service and want to advance in your career, you will be eligible to apply to the program when it launches later this year. If you qualify and are selected for the program, you will enroll in either a degree program or an industry-recognized credential or certificate program.
As the name suggests, YES (Your Efforts, Supported) gives participants needed tools and support to achieve their educational and career goals. If you are in the program, you will receive your current Carilion wages and benefits while you are in training and going to school full-time. Your educational costs are also covered.
“We'll work with program participants to determine what barriers may stand in the way of their success,” says Tara Wiedeman, senior director of Education and Organizational Development and one of the program developers. “Then we'll find ways to reduce or eliminate those barriers, so participants can truly focus on learning and training without the stress of balancing work and home responsibilities.”
When the program opens for applications, it will be announced on Inside Carilion. At that time, you'll be able to review profiles of identified roles on the YES track and apply. If accepted, you'll shadow someone in the role you want to pursue and work with a program navigator to determine your custom path and address any personal challenges.
