2026 LEAP Farm Share Program for Carilion Employees (CLOSED)

   2025 Farm Share

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2026 FARM SHARE PROGRAM IS NOW CLOSED!

Get access to fresh, healthy food from local farmers each week! We are proud to be in our 14th year of supporting the Local Environmental Agriculture Project, Inc. (LEAP) Farm Share Program. Our support began after the 2012 Community Health Assessment (CHA) identified a “lack of nutrient‑dense foods diet” as a top need to address.

Carilion Clinic employees can enjoy fresh, local produce right here in Roanoke! Choose from five convenient pick‑up locations on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Employees may also take advantage of payroll deduction to purchase LEAP Farm Shares. The deadline to sign up for payroll deduction is Monday, April 20, 2026.

WHAT IS A FARM SHARE?

A farm share is:

  • A weekly bag of fresh produce grown by farmers in your local area.
  • A convenient way to eat healthier.
  • An investment in your health, your environment, and your local economy.
  • A hands‑on way to learn about eating seasonally where you live.

HOW DOES THE FARM SHARE WORK?

  • Main Season: May 4, 2026 – October 30, 2026.
  • Winter Season: November 5, 2026 – January 29, 2027.
  • Members pick up their share weekly at their selected location.
  • Choose from a Half Share (3–4 vegetables) or Full Share (6–7 vegetables).
  • Optional add‑ons include eggs, fruit, and pantry items.
  • Two vacation days are built into each season. You may select those dates at registration or at a later date.
  • Farm Share members receive a weekly e‑newsletter with recipes and information about the local farmers and foods included in your share.

Payroll Deduction Option:

Carilion will pay the full cost of your farm share(s) up front to LEAP. Your total cost will then be deducted in 12 equal amounts from your pay between May 22 through October 23, 2026.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT INFORMATION:

Payroll Deduction Deadline: April 20, 2026 (REGISTRATION CLOSED!)

Carilion employees may choose payroll deduction for the 2026 LEAP Farm Share Season Program. If this option is selected, Carilion will submit payment and all required information to LEAP on your behalf.

Your total cost will be divided into 12 bi-weekly payroll deductions, which you are obligated to continue from May 22, 2026 through October 23, 2026. When completing the registration form, please select “None” or “Medicaid/WIC” as the incentive type, and then choose “Payroll Deduction” as the payment type.

If your employment with Carilion Clinic ends before the full balance is paid, the remaining amount must be deducted from your final paycheck. Farm share pickups from LEAP will continue uninterrupted despite changes in Carilion employment status. However, you may choose a new pickup location from LEAP’s available sites if needed.

EBT, WIC, AND MEDICAID OPTIONS:

  • A limited number of half-price shares are available for individuals using an EBT-SNAP card (formerly known as food stamps) or with proof of WIC or Medicaid enrollment.
  • To register using EBT, WIC, or Medicaid, please contact LEAP directly at farmshare@leapforlocalfood.org or (540) 583-6387.
  • Please note: Participants using EBT-SNAP are not eligible for payroll deduction.

PAYMENT WITHOUT PAYROLL DEDUCTION:

  • If you decide not to use payroll deduction, you may pay LEAP directly up-front by registering online by April 20, 2026
  • Please be aware that the program does fill up, and there is a waiting list as needed.

CANCELLATION POLICY (PAYROLL DEDUCTION PARTICIPANTS):

If you desire to cancel your farm share(s) for any reason while enrolled in the Carilion payroll deduction system, the following applies:

  • Payroll deductions will continue as scheduled.
  • Any refunds will be issued directly by LEAP (minus a cancellation fee).
  • Please contact LEAP at (540) 583-6387 or farmshare@leapforlocalfood.org

No returns will be offered to employees using the Carilion payroll deduction system, but LEAP will accommodate you free of charge at another LEAP delivery location or allow you to continue the service under another sharer’s name. Please advise LEAP of any changes immediately so we can keep all fresh deliveries as smooth as possible.
