Vision Award winner Jon Conti

Several of the technologists in nuclear medicine would like to nominate, Jon Conti, for the vision award.  We feel that he exemplifies many qualities that would make him an excellent candidate.

Jon is serving as interim supervisor while Angela Plunkett is out on maternity leave.  We have a second employee who is also on maternity leave resulting in the department having less staff during a time when we are busier than usual.  Jon is sharing some of Angela's responsibilities with, James Crowley in addition to his ongoing responsibilities as a nuclear medicine tech and preceptor of our department.  Jon embodies many of Carilion’s Core Values in his daily performance of duties.

Jon represents COLLABORATION as he continues to work with our radiologist and manager to create new protocols for new imaging agents as well as new therapies.  He works with our nuclear pharmacy to coordinate changes in dose deliveries and he takes the time to create the new exams on our acquisition station to implement these new protocols. Communication can be a challenge in our department, as the technologists rotate through several locations.   We greatly appreciate his thorough communications that keep us all aware of the many changes that are happening during this time.

Jon is COMMITTED to the excellence of quality in our department.  In addition to the responsibilities above, he has been working on the lengthy process of applying for IAC credentials for our department.  In addition, Jon also, goes beyond what is expected of him by problem solving many of our IT issues in the department.

Jon portrays COMMPASSION as he works with patients and coworkers. He embodies great patient care as he patiently explains procedures and ensures the patient's questions are answered and needs are cared for.   As coworkers, we know that Jon will always listen with patience to concerns or challenges that we have.  We can count on him to follow up with helpful feedback or suggestions.

During this demanding time in our department, Jon has been largely responsible for keeping us running efficiently!  Jon does all of this while smiling and being pleasant.  He always has a wonderful attitude.  He keeps morale up in the department with his great sense of humor.  We often hear him singing a song or repeating movie quotes that relate to happenings in the department.

We are grateful to have him on our team and he is deserving of recognition!!!
