Enhanced 911 Phone Project: Working To Keep You Safe
We’re beginning a project to make sure all phones within Carilion facilities meet federal Enhanced 911 (E911) requirements – so that whenever someone calls 911 from a Carilion phone, emergency responders can quickly locate the caller to dispatch help. To help us update our phone system, we have contracted 911 Secure to conduct a phone audit. Every phone at every facility will need to be touched. (This does not apply to Carilion mobile phones.) It’s a big undertaking, and we will need your help!
From Jan. 17 - 27, auditors from 911 Secure will make the rounds at each facility to locate every phone and validate its extension. They will start with the smaller, outlying practices, then move to the larger hospitals, clinics and administrative facilities. When possible, the auditors will be accompanied by someone from TSG Field Services, Carilion Police, Property Management or Engineering and Maintenance.
When the auditors visit your location, please make sure they have access to your phone. They need just a few seconds with each phone.
The auditors will be wearing a Carilion ID badge and can provide this document when requested so you can verify who they are when they visit your facility.
Please make sure all PHI and confidential information is secure during the audit.
If you have questions, email E911_Communications@carilionclinic.org.
