Our Renewed Partnership with Radford University Athletics

This week, Radford University Athletics announced our new five-year partnership with them, totaling $1 million through the 2024-25 academic year.

The agreement expands our Radford University Carilion (RUC) partnership, founded in 2019 when Radford University and the Jefferson College of Health Sciences announced a merger. With the new partnership, we will continue to focus on elevating RUC and providing new opportunities for education on health and wellness in the region.

We will have naming rights and RUC logo placement on the Dedmon Center basketball and volleyball court, and the playing surface will be known as Carilion Clinic Court.  RUC logos will be visible to Dedmon Center spectators and during broadcast events in front of the visitors’ bench and the courtside seating area.

The partnership will also create the Carilion Clinic Endowed Athletics Scholarship, to be awarded annually to a Radford student-athlete(s) majoring in the medical field or planning to pursue a medical degree after graduating from Radford.

Additional benefits of the partnership include:

• Radford Athletics student-athletes will be involved in community outreach programs along with our teams.
• Healthy meal options will be provided at concession stands for events at the Dedmon Center.
• We will remain the presenting sponsor of the annual Highlander Half Marathon & 5K and a sponsor for Highlander Pride Weekend festivities.
• A Tartan Tip-Off basketball event will be developed and held at RUC in Roanoke.

We have other similar partnerships, including with Virginia Tech, the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs and Virginia Military Institute, all with the goal to further health and wellness outreach in those areas while enhancing Carilion’s brand.
