The ED Stork

On August 18, 2021 at shift change our Labor and Delivery unit was in the middle of getting report from the off going shift when the labor unit doors open, and in walks Maverick a CA from the ED with a Mom and her newborn infant. Maverick had just arrived to his shift when he saw this Mother laboring in the ED and rushed her up to Labor and Delivery, on their elevator ride up the patient felt like she needed to push, and Maverick did not hesitate at all. He jumped right in and helped her deliver her baby in the elevator! When the doors opened he rushed her right into our Labor triage, a healthy mom and baby was the end result thanks to Mavericks quick actions. Later in the week Maverick returned to Labor and Delivery and we pinned him with a stork pin to wear on his badge as a reminder of his first elevator delivery.
