AmSECT Pillar Award for Perfusion

The American Society of Extracorporeal Technology (AmSECT) has recognized the Carilion Clinic Cardiac Perfusion Team with the AmSECT Pillar Award.  According the to AmSECT website, "The AmSECT Pillar Award is a designation for individual perfusion departments which demonstrate excellence as displayed in a number of key areas including organized orientation and training, QA/QI process, continuing education and performance evaluation, development of institutional protocols and adherence to AmSECT Standards and Guidelines, employee education and commitment to the field of perfusion.  A minimum score must be achieved on the application in order to achieve the designation".

Only SIX Centers in the United States received this distinction:

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

Duke University Hospital

Mayo Clinic

Nationwide Children's Hospital
