CFMH and Vaccine Clinics

For the past couple of months our leadership team here at CFMH has been extremely busy on the front lines of the COVID Vaccine roll out. Without hesitation, this team has pulled together to vaccinate our own staff, staff from outside practices, EMS/Fire personnel and many, many members of our community who fall within the categories to receive the COVID vaccine. There have been numerous “vaccine clinics” set up and vaccines given. Vaccines have been given here in the hospital, at the Franklin Center, at the Harvester Performance Center and at other Community Centers in our county.

I want to commend this group of leaders and everyone who has participated in helping to staff these clinics. This simply could not be done without them. Without naming names for fear of leaving someone out, I will trust that each of these leaders will recognize themselves and each other. You are the reason I am proud of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital; you are the reason that I am proud to work for you. You are also the reason that your community and Carilion Clinic is so proud of you and everything you do. There is no other group that I would rather work for in your quest to vaccinate everyone and yet continue our work here in the hospital. Your attention to our everyday hospital operations, accreditation preparedness, staffing issues, etc continues to amaze me.

We have a long way to go in getting more of our community vaccinated. This team continues to play a huge role in making sure that these vaccines are getting into the arms of our people. It is working. Our community is getting vaccinated.

In the coming weeks we will see more clinics, more larger scale clinics, set up and initiated. There will be many more “second dose clinics” being set up as a result and we will see the availability of a new vaccine that is a one dose vaccine. We will also be working more collaboratively with our regional coalition partners to carry out much larger scale events than we have seen.

I am looking forward to the continued work that our hospital will do. I will remain extremely proud of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital and each leader within these walls. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do every single day.
