Their safety is in our hands!
We have come to the end of our FY and while there is room for improvement, we want to celebrate our successes at all levels. The last half of the FY has been harrowing for all of us and as we prepare for what may be our new norm, you need to be celebrated, you deserve to be celebrated! Safety needs to be entrenched in our culture and we should remember the Nursing principle of Non maleficence; DO NO HARM! This means we have an obligation to keep our patients safe. As such, certificates were awarded today in two different categories: 1) Unit that Outperformed NDNQI Benchmark for Falls with Injury and 2) Units that Outperformed our Internal Target for Falls.
Units that Outperformed NDNQI Benchmark for Falls with Injury: 7 SICU,6 SICU, 6 MICU, 8 MICU, 9 MICU, 10 MICU, 9 SICU, 12W, 10W, 8W, 8 SPCU, 10 SA, 9W, 11S, 11S PICU, 14 SNICU, 13 S Antepartum, and 12 SMB
Units that Outperformed our Internal Benchmark for Falls: 6 SICU, 6W, 7 SICU, 7 SPCU, 8 MICU, 8 MPCU, 9 MICU, 9 MPCU, 9 SPCU, 9 SICU, 9W, 10 MICU, 10 MPCU, 10 SB, 11S, 11 SPICU, 14 S and R3
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention two of our areas that improved in their overall prevention efforts: CRCH IP Rehab 7 had a 77% improvement over last FY with 48 falls vs 62 and the ED had a 76% improvement rate with 58 falls vs 76.
