Congratulations to the winners of the 2020 TEACH awards!
Five unique awards (and a bonus award), created to recognize the efforts of our educators and highlight their accomplishments, were announced during this year’s Virtual TEACH Education Day event. This year’s award winners are all exceptional faculty who embody the principles of excellence in teaching, go above and beyond in their teaching role, and will have a long-term impact on your career and that of others. Educator Mentorship Award: Kathleen Dorey, PhD (Basic Science Education)
The TEACH Educator Mentorship Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated excellence in counseling and guidance towards others’ teaching practices, and/or educational research.
Innovative Teaching Award: David Trinkle, MD (Interprofessionalism/Psychiatry)
The TEACH Innovative Teaching Award recognizes the exceptional use of new teaching strategies or the implementation of existing strategies in new ways to enhance teaching.
Feedback Award: Rebecca Pauly, MD (Internal Medicine) & Emily Holt Foerst, MA (Student Affairs/Basic Science Education)
The TEACH Feedback Award recognizes the challenging role of effectively and skillfully incorporating feedback into daily routines that focus on specific behaviors, assess performance, guide reflection, promote expertise, and identify a learner’s readiness to change.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award (SoTL): Jennifer Bath, MSN, RN, AGCNS-BC, CEN, TCRN (Trauma Services)
The TEACH Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award recognizes outstanding achievements in research, scholarly activity, and creative accomplishments that focus on the effectiveness of teaching methods.
Rising Star Award: Natalie Karp, MD (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
The TEACH Rising Star award recognizes emerging leaders in health professions education whose teaching experience, between one and five years, demonstrates ongoing and promising growth in contribution to teaching and increased levels of teaching leadership and responsibility.
Bonus Award 2020 - Excellence in Adaptive Teaching: Douglas Grider, MD (Basic Science Education)
This award recognizes an individual who supported the continuation of teaching & learning in a new virtual education reality created by the pandemic.
