A Courageous Decision Pays Off

Mevla and Hamdija Ibrahimovic came to the United States 20 years ago from Bosnia-Herzegovina to find a better life. Becoming US citizens is the culmination of such a courageous decision. Mevla gained her US citizenship on June 9, 2020 in Norfolk, VA. She gave up her lunch breaks to study everyday at the Laundry for the interview and test.

The couple have both worked at the Carilion Laundry for 19 years. Mevla is the Team Lead in the OR Pack Make-Up department and Hamdija works with our wash equipment as a Laundry Control Operator. Both are very valuable and versatile members of our Team. The family is very well represented at Carilion. Their son, Mirzet, works in Respiratory Care at CRMH and their daughter, Mirzeta, is an RN at CRMH.
