Volunteers Show Their Support

Submitted by slflowers on

Carilion volunteers are on hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic, but their presence is very much felt across CMC. To show their support for those on the front lines, volunteers launched a card-writing campaign to say "Thank you" to staff. Volunteers sent cards to employees in departments where they volunteer and where they don't. "Thank you for 'keeping the home fires burning,'" Front Desk volunteer Carol Foutz wrote. "I'm so grateful for the opportunity to serve in the NICU or anywhere on campus. Volunteering fills me," NICU volunteer Linda Perry penned. "You are in my prayers," wrote Outpatient Surgery volunteer Margo Gualdoni. In addition, another NICU volunteer sent a $100 donation to the unit as a token of thanks. In addition, Pet Pal volunteers made homemade videos of their pets and sent them to ED staff to lift their spirits during this critical time. Carilion employees, volunteers want you know they are not with you, but they are WITH YOU. Keep up the great work.
