Patients were misinterpreting our one-visitor-per-patient policy to mean that multiple visitors could take turns visiting the same patient. That is not the case. During a stay, patients are limited to one designated visitor. We're updating our language to clarify that point.
For pediatric patients who are allowed up to two visitors, the visitors must be parents or legal guardians.
We've extended the visitor restrictions to our ambulatory care sites as well.
Lastly, all of our hospitals now have a visitor screening process.
Important information on PTO during school closure:
Today, Gov. Ralph Northam mandated that all Virginia K-12 schools close for two weeks. CEO Nancy Agee sent a company-wide email earlier today including information about PTO.
To reiterate our current policy:
Please work with your manager to schedule absences in advance.
Please follow department policy/protocols for absences.
If you must take unexpected time off during this two-week period, please contact your manager prior to your scheduled work time with as much notice as possible.
You will need to use PTO for this two-week period. If you don’t have enough accrued PTO, the time off will be unpaid.
Absences related to the Governor closing schools will NOT be counted unscheduled under the attendance policy.
Please work with your manager to see if alternative work arrangements are available.
