Jen Bath participates in Health Professions Education Research Scholars Program

Jennifer Bath MSN, RN, AGCNS-BC, CEN,  TCRN, Clinical Nurse Specialist for Trauma Services was selected as one of 8 participants and the only nurse in the 2019-2020 Health Professions Education Research Scholars (HERS) program. High-quality education research is dependent upon those that deliver the education to also have the capacity to design and execute rigorous research programs. To meet this need, the TEACH academy has developed an interdisciplinary health professions education research curriculum. The goal of this curriculum is to produce excellent education researchers in the health professions, through didactic and experiential sessions. In addition, participants will complete a mentored education research project of peer-reviewed quality.

The Health Professions Education Research Scholars (HERS) program is a monthly all day session (18 sessions total) with content from the Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC) program, developed and offered through the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), plus an experiential project in which participants are actively mentored through the development and execution of a scholarly research project.  A competitive selection process is used to identify program participants.

Participants are required to protect one designated day per month for 18 months, with support of their department, to devote to participation in the HERS program.  Upon completion of the program, participants will receive their MERC certification from the AAMC.
