One of our patients was scheduled for discharge yesterday and the Nursing Assistant was getting vital signs and saw that her oxygen saturation was extremely low. She notified the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient and our Restorative Aide walked the patient on room air. Her oxygen saturations dropped very low and her heart rate went very high. The nurse called the physician and got an x-ray that showed that her lungs were filled and she would need an immediate intervention.
Thanks to Lasha, Jamie and Autumn for their outstanding assessment skills and immediate intervention that led to preventing this patient from further suffering.
