Jefferson College Graduate Named ACA's Academician of the Year

At their annual conference on January 19, 2019, at the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) presented several awards to it's members in recognition of their exceptional service, achievement and/or leadership within the chiropractic profession.

Among those receiving awards was Robert Vining, DC, of Davenport, Iowa, who was named the ACA Academician of the Year.

Dr. Vining is a December 2018 graduate of Jefferson College of Health Sciences' Doctor of Health Sciences program, and an Associate Professor and Senior Research Clinician at the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research.

Dr. Vining, who was recognized with the award for his numerous publications and outstanding work in the field of chiropractic research, musculoskeletal diagnosis and translating research evidence into clinical practice, said, "[This was] an unexpected surprise, though nice to know some of my work is viewed as meaningful. During the award presentation, my recent degree from Jefferson College of Health Sciences was noted, as was some other work that I was able to accomplish because of my training at Jefferson College."

Dr. Vining's focus at Jefferson College was in the education field and his capstone was entitled, "Educator’s Learning Alignment Instrument (ELAI): A Pilot Study." This project involved instrument development and primary research (instrument feasibility).
