What Is OnBase?

OnBase is a content management system that can help teams scan, store, organize, and retrieve documents electronically.

The system also supports automated processes that can help departments manage how documents are received, reviewed, and routed.

OnBase can make appropriate documents available through Epic. Depending on the workflow, documents can be linked to a specific patient, encounter, or order.

What Can OnBase Do?

The EIM team can configure OnBase to support your department's needs, including:

• Digitizing paper documents using approved scanning processes
• Importing electronic files such as PDFs, Word documents, and images
• Automating document imports from shared folders on a set schedule
• Connecting documents to Epic at the patient, encounter, or order level, when applicable
• Customizing workflows for receiving, reviewing, and routing documents

How to Get Started

Talk with your department's TSG business relationship director to discuss your department's needs and whether OnBase would be a possible solution.

We'll need to know where your documents come from, how they're used, who needs access, and what you'd like to improve. You don't need to know which OnBase features your department needs. EIM will review your current workflow, identify an appropriate solution, configure the process, and support testing and implementation.
