Email-to-Fax Is Changing: Start Using @efaxds.com Now

Email-to-Fax users: It’s time to make the switch! Carilion’s Email-to-Fax service is transitioning from @fax.carilionclinic.org to @efaxds.com.

The new @efaxds.com domain is active now and can be used immediately. Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, @fax.carilionclinic.org will no longer work. Employees who send faxes by email should transition before the deadline to avoid disruption.

NOTE: This change is specific to email-to-fax workflows and does not affect fax machines or printer-based faxing. Most fax machines are already using eFax and are unaffected. The only users who need to take action are those who send faxes directly from email, who should update the domain to @efaxds.com before Nov. 2.

Sending a Fax Using eFax

When sending a fax by email, enter the recipient’s fax number followed by @efaxds.com in the To field (example: 18885551212@efaxds.com).

Attach the document(s), complete the subject line and email body as needed, and send. The email body becomes the fax cover sheet, and eFax will send a confirmation email with the result of the transmission.
