Upcoming Traffic Change on Walnut Avenue Bridge in Roanoke

Submitted by abshaver on

On Monday, Sept. 14, the City of Roanoke will begin work to repair a joint on the Walnut Avenue Bridge. During construction, one lane of traffic will remain open at all times, and work will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Steel plates will be used periodically with signs in place to alert drivers of the bumps. The project is expected to take 4 weeks, ending Monday, Oct. 12.

The bridge is part of the detour route near CRMH while Belleview Avenue is closed for safety reasons as we work to make necessary repairs to the hospital's brick facade.

Allow extra time if you are traveling over the bridge or in the vicinity.

An updated detour map of the area around CRMH is shown below. The Walnut Avenue Bridge area is highlighted in orange.
