Help Local Students Start the School Year Strong

Carilion Children's is proud to partner again with the Roanoke County Police Department and community organizations for the annual Cuts with Cops event, which helps children prepare for the new school year with free haircuts, school supplies, and other resources.

The event is open to the public and supplies will be distributed while they last. Last year, families traveled from across the region to take part.

What: Cuts with Cops
When: Saturday, Aug. 1, beginning at 9 a.m. until supplies run out
Where: Carilion Children's Tanglewood, main entrance, 4348 Electric Rd., Roanoke, VA 24018. 
Who: Open to the public, with a focus on Roanoke County children and families
Why: To help students head back to school feeling confident and prepared

How You Can Help

Spread the word. Invite friends, family, and neighbors who may benefit from the event.

Donate school supplies. Every donation helps equip local students for a successful school year. Items needed include:

• Full-sized backpacks
• Spiral-bound notebooks
• Notebook paper
• Pencil cases
• Scissors

Items can be dropped off at Carilion Children's Tanglewood or at Fleet Feet Roanoke. We also have an Amazon wish list if you prefer to purchase items that way.
