Track Your Progress—Writing Goals Journey Launches in Workday

The Writing Goals Journey has launched in Workday, giving you a central place to document FY26 goals and track progress throughout the review period. 

FY26 goals should have been identified and recorded at the end of 2025. If you have not yet entered your goals in Workday, or if updates are needed, now is a good time to add what you have been working on and capture recent progress. This is also good practice for creating your FY 27 goals later this year. 

What You Need to Know 

The Goals Journey will appear as a task in Workday for you to complete. Workday is the tool for recording goals, updating progress, and preparing for performance review conversations. 

Every employee should have at least one organizational goal and one developmental goal. Organizational goals should align with the Carilion scorecard goals, and leaders can help confirm the best connection. 

If you are writing or refining your own goal, talk with your leader. Your leader can help you clarify priorities, refine your focus, and ensure your goal supports organizational expectations. 

Why This Matters 

• Goals help you and leaders stay aligned on priorities and progress throughout the year. 
• Goals are 20% of the employee review and 30% of the review score for leaders.
• Goals are part of the performance review process and will be pulled into your self-evaluation and manager review. 
• Documenting progress now makes it easier to prepare for review conversations later. 
• Goals should be reviewed and updated regularly as work evolves. 

What to Do Now 

Log in to Workday and complete the Writing Goals Journey task. Review the goals you established for FY26, add updates on your progress and completed work, and make any needed refinements with your leader. 

Taking a few minutes now to document your progress can help make future performance conversations more complete, accurate, and meaningful.
