Grit and Determination - Bobbi Weeks
Recently, a patient I worked with as part of the Transitions Care Program was noted to have lost his medications while in the hospital. He had gone through several transfers from one facility to another and then from one department to another at CNRVMC. He was certain he had his medications when he arrived at the 2nd hospital. After several calls to a couple of departments at CNRVMC, I called Patient Advocate, Bobbi Weeks. She went to the different areas the patient had been in and pressed the staff to look for the medications. They were not found at first. The next day, she went back to those departments and assisted again with searches. The medications were located. From there, she coordinated with security to have the medications transported from CNRVMC to CRMH as the patient lived in the Roanoke area. By locating the medications, she saved the patient a lot of hassle in trying to get the medications re-ordered, refilled, and potentially rejected by insurance as this man had just had these meds refilled at his pharmacy. She did all this with a certainty the meds would be found and a positive spirit. The patient was very thankful his meds were found and extremely appreciative he did not have to trek from Roanoke to CNRVMC to pick them back up. Bobbi is a wonderful team member to have! I cannot thank her enough for her assistance in caring for this man's well-being.
