2026 Registration is Open for Carilion Summer Camps

Camp Carilion

Eligibility: Rising 10th - 12th grade students
Application deadline: Friday, April 3
Dates: Tuesday, June 16 – Friday, June 19
Location: Roanoke, VA

Camp Carilion is returning this summer for rising 10th - 12th grade students who may be interested in a future career in healthcare. This four-day camp gives students the opportunity to gain experience with life-saving skills and information through hands-on exercises and interactive demonstrations.

Students will learn more about:

• What to do in the event of an accident or life-threatening situation
• Trauma-related injuries and ways to prevent them
• Nursing skills
• CPR training
• Operating Room procedures, techniques, and instruments
• Different types of professions within the healthcare industry

Camp Treehouse

Eligibility: Children in grades K-8

Dates: Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2
Location: Peaks Retreat and Adventure Center, Thaxton, VA

Carilion's Center for Grief and Healing offers Camp Treehouse—a free, overnight camp designed to provide a safe, supportive space for children and teens (grades K-8). During this camp, youth have the opportunity to connect with peers who understand their grief. They will learn about grief's impact on one another and the family unit.

Parents/guardians must attend. Meals are provided. Indoor and outdoor lodging will be offered. For outdoor lodging, bring your own tent. Dress for outdoor adventure.

Camp Too Sweet

Eligibility: Children ages 8 - 16 who have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
Application deadline: Wednesday, May 6
Dates: Monday, July 6 - Friday, July 10
Location: Fincastle, VA

Camp Too Sweet offers a week-long program for kids aged 8 to 16 who have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. This exciting and educational camp provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can build confidence, form friendships, and participate in activities designed to support them on their diabetes journey. All campers have diabetes, so children won't feel alone or different. We provide positive role models to help kids establish healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Camp Too Sweet focuses on helping campers accept their diabetes, teaching them how to live a healthy lifestyle—and most importantly, on having fun! Campers interact with other kids just like themselves, who are facing the same challenges, in the beautiful and exciting setting of our residential camp.
