10 MTN ICU - Shout out to Alyssa for going above and beyond to help figure out how to safely care for our cryo amputation patient when this is something we do not see nor have a policy on. She spent a lot of time calling around to make sure we had everything we needed and make sure no one was being put in an unsafe position.
4 CST ICU - As we came on shift, patients were unstable. My team stepped up to the plate with helping hands. They even helped with some of the "charge" duties since one of the patients declining was my patient. Bethany House, Danielle Poland, Joseph Nappi, Zach Bunner, Cynthia Al-Murshidi were the RNs who quickly jumped in to help. Tennille Smelcer, NP was invaluable and often goes above and beyond. Cameron, RRT (sorry I don't know last name) quickly came to the unit to help ABGs, adjusting BiPAPs, etc. Often thankful for my team especially during times such as last night
7 SICU - During a busy shift, Rebekah Childs ensured EKG leads were properly cleaned and disinfected after use, allowing them to dry completely before storage. By prioritizing infection prevention standards, Rebekah reinforced a strong culture of safety and demonstrated how integrating infection control into routine patient care can be efficient and practical.
8 MTN ICU - Huge recognition to Jo Bailey for stepping up to care for a Burn ICU patient who was diverted to our hospital due to unsafe road conditions. Despite having no prior burn experience, she proactively reached out to the VCU Burn ICU and consulted directly with their charge nurse to ensure all wound care was being managed appropriately. This level of initiative and commitment to doing what’s best for the patient is exactly the kind of nursing practice that keeps our patients safe and reflects the highest standards of care.
9 CST ICU - CA Taylor did a great job recognizing a patient decline and was able to get the team in the room quickly before the patient coded. Great job Taylor!
9 MTN ICU - Madi obtained a KREG bed for her patient with a SCI. When he stood for the first time he started to cry. Thank you for caring for your patients so well and maintaining your patient's dignity.
9 SICU - During rounding today Bekah had a patient on a vent, who also had a foley and an HD cath. Every single bundle element was followed to a T, fantastic job providing the best care for your patients!!
PICU - Abigail and Dr. Keele ensured that the mom and dad of a very critically ill patient could hold their baby. It takes a lot of teamwork and risk to get little intubated patients out of bed and in the families arms and our team showed compassion and excellence that day making sure that it could happen.
