The Employee Emergency Fund—Help Us Care for Each Other
At Carilion, care doesn’t end when a shift does—it shows in how we look out for one another. Our Employee Emergency Fund helps ensure that no team member faces a difficult time alone.

“Supporting our employees in need embodies our mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. As members of that community, we recognize that meeting the needs of our colleagues is essential to providing compassionate care to our patients and their families.” – Jo Ellen Armstrong, Human Resources program manager for leadership development
“As a leader, I recognize that life happens—and it happens to everyone. Donating is a way for me to help and remind others they’re not alone.” – Leigh Ann Trent, practice manager in the Department of Surgery
“We’re more than coworkers—we’re a family at Carilion. And families take care of each other.” – Lori Ramsey, care coordinator LPN
It’s that shared compassion that defines what it means to work at Carilion.
Through the Employee Emergency Fund, you can lend a helping hand to colleagues facing unexpected hardships—whether from illness, natural disasters or other personal crises.
You can also make a difference for patients and our communities through your gift. For example, the Patient Care Fund helps to pay for the cost of medications, equipment and transportation for patients. The Carilion Clinic Foundation has more than 60 funds, so you can choose the causes that matter most to you.
There's still time to make your impact. The Carilion Cares, I Care employee giving campaign runs through Saturday, Nov. 15.
