Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness

Submitted by cadaniel on

This month, the Ortho Activities Committee is proud to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer.  This meaningful initiative was led by Melina Newcomb, whose personal journey makes this cause especially close to her heart.

Melina’s Why:   "This is a very important cause for me because at age four, my son Levi was diagnosed with medulloblastoma that had spread from his brain to his spine.  The chemo and radiation treatment he endured were very difficult, as well recovering from brain surgery.  Levi lived 14 years cancer free.  When he was 18, he was diagnosed with an undifferentiated sarcoma, attributed to the harsh radiation treatments he received when he was four.  Levi fought for 14 months and passed away in December 2019.
