Ronald McDonald Tab Top Recycling Program

The Ronald McDonald House tab top collection and recycling program allows a small contribution to make a big difference in the lives of children and their families during a hard time.

Almost every unit at our hospitals offer cans of soda to their patients. By taking one small step and taking the tab off the top of these cans and placing them in designated containers, together we can make a difference.

How do I get started?

  • The goal is to have every department participate to collect the tabs and place them into a designated box on their unit.
    • Collection boxes or labels can be obtained from Marina Sotelo.
  • Large collection houses are in place at CRMH, CNRV, CRCH, CRBH, CFMH, ION, Rehab, Tanglewood and Crystal Springs.

What happens with the tabs?

  • When the small box in your department is full, staff should either:
    • Empty tabs into the large collection house at the facility (if one exists)
    • Bring tabs to the Ronald McDonald house and drop them in their collection house at the front of the facility (2224 S Jefferson St, Roanoke, VA 24014)
  • If your facility has a large collection house, when it is full, tabs will be boxed and shipped to the Ronald McDonald House in Roanoke. If you’d like to volunteer for this effort, please reach out to mcsotelo@carilionclinic.org
  • The Ronald McDonald house will take the tabs to the recycling center and funds generated will be used to offset the House’s expenses.

At the end of the day, every tab is one step closer to a positive impact for the children of our community and their families.

Flyers for some participating locations can be found under the "Waste & Recycling" section of the Resources page. If you'd like a flyer created for your location, reach out to mcsotelo@carilionclinic.org.
