Help Wali Collect School Supplies
Tis the season when school supplies are on display in nearly every store. This is a great time to pick up a few extras and bring them to Carilion Children's Tanglewood now through Thursday, July 31.
Wali, our Saint Francis Facility Dog, would welcome any donated items listed below.
All donated items will be distributed at the Cuts with Cops event that will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at Carilion Children’s Pediatric Medicine, 4348 Electric Road, Roanoke.
Cuts With Cops
This year’s Cuts with Cops will be the third-annual event. Hosted by the Roanoke County Police Department and Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office, Cuts with Cops gives school-aged children of the Roanoke Valley access to free haircuts, school supplies, shoes, food and health education. Back-to-school vaccines are even offered by the Virginia Department of Health.
The event came about three years ago when a few police officers noticed parents were struggling to make ends meet with the start of the school. They decided they could do something to help and arranged for local barbers and sponsors to spend the day cutting hair and making meals for kids.
Carilion Children’s is partnering with local agencies to help kids get ready for the new school year.
Wali, our Saint Francis Facility Dog, is supporting the cause and collecting school supplies.
He needs your help and will gladly accept school supply donations at Carilion Children’s Tanglewood through July 31.
