Taking Time

A newly diagnosed diabetic came to the pharmacy at Crystal Spring to pick up her blood sugar testing supplies and insulin. My WONDERFUL coworker and fellow pharmacist Elene Stratton at Medical Center Pharmacy took the time out of our hectic shift to sit down with the patient and demonstrate how to use each of her supplies and how to inject the insulin. Unexpectedly, the brand-new glucometer would not register the patient's blood sugar.  During conversation, the patient stated she had labs drawn the day prior and her blood sugar was over 700. Elene immediately advised the patient to see care at RMH ER. The patient came straight to the ER and received the care she needed. Elene is my HERO!
