Infection Prevention and Control Brings Some Fun to CPR/AED Events!

Submitted by bknemetzgardner on

Infection Preventionists (IPs) from Ronaoke, New River, and Franklin came together this past Saturday to provide hand hygiene education at two community events sponsored by Carilion CVI and Compress and Shock.

These events were created with the goal of certifying as many people in CPR/AED in the New River and Rocky Mount areas. IPs engaged community members by testing their hand-washing skills with the "Caught Red Handed" Game. Particpants were asked to don a pair of gloves, close their eyes, and then were given a ~quarter sized amount of red pant. With their eyes closed, they were asked to go through the motions of washing their hands as they normally do. Once finished, they opened their eyes and saw all the surfaces they were able to wash, and any missed opportunities. IPs provide helpful feedback to anyone that needed help with theit technique.
