As we progress through the year, there are several critical education assignments that must be completed to ensure our team upholds high-quality care and safety standards. Meeting these upcoming deadlines is essential to maintaining certifications, improving clinical skills and supporting the continued success of our teams. Please take a moment to review the following important deadlines to be sure you're on track to complete all required education on time.

Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI)
Deadline: Monday, March 31

The deadline to complete your quarterly RQI learning modules is coming up! To maintain your American Heart Association certification, it’s important to review your Cornerstone transcript and finish all the required e-learning modules and skills activities by Monday, March 31.

This quarterly requirement ensures that you are up to date on the latest resuscitation protocols and best practices to deliver high-quality, lifesaving CPR during critical situations. Completing these modules on time also ensures compliance with certification standards. If you have any questions, be sure to reach out to your manager or check out the RQI FAQ page on Inside Carilion for helpful tips and reminders.

2025 Required Inservices
Deadline: Monday, March 31

Completing your inservices fulfills mandatory annual education requirements that are important to the care and safety of our patients and employees. They contain information that every employee in our organization should know and apply based on their role and responsibilities.

Additionally, regulatory agencies require all employees to receive annual information about specific topics. Your assigned inservices allow each of us to get information that is essential to our work during a designated timeframe.

For these reasons, if you don't finish your inservices by the Monday, March 31 deadline, you will receive a type I disciplinary action with a progressive disciplinary action if additional deadlines are missed.

This previous article has tips to complete your inservices on time. If you have questions when completing your inservices, contact the HR Service Center at 800-599-2537 or at HRServiceCenter@carilionclinic.org.

Elsevier Clinical Skills
Deadline: Tuesday, April 1

If you are a clinical employee, you were assigned education in Cornerstone on March 1 to become familiar with Elsevier Clinical Skills, a new online resource designed to support and enhance clinical practice.

Elsevier Clinical Skills provides a wide range of reference materials, including detailed illustrations, instructional videos and step-by-step guides for a variety of clinical procedures. These resources are available in both short and long formats, making it easy to find the information you need, when you need it.

In addition to providing educational content, Elsevier Clinical Skills will replace Cornerstone for clinical skill validation. Starting on April 1, a phased rollout will begin with Adult Inpatient Nursing Services, and all teams are expected to be fully live with Elsevier by October 2025. This change is an exciting opportunity to further standardize and streamline clinical skill validation, ensuring consistency and quality across all areas of care.

You can access the Elsevier Clinical Skills reference material and validation tools via the Nursing Services hub on Inside Carilion. Additionally, if you use CPG, you can easily access these resources through the Epic toolbar, near CPG, Links, or More menu.

If you have questions or need assistance navigating Elsevier, please submit a request through the HR E&OD Request Portal, selecting Elsevier Clinical Skills as the request category.
