Nexus Update: We’re Extending Our Go-Live Date

The Nexus project is a significant commitment to modernize the tools we use within Carilion for administrative and clinical functions. Our aim is a successful transition that limits any impact on our patients, staff and operations.

With this aim in mind, we have decided to extend the go-live date for both Workday and UKG.

We originally planned for an April 1, 2025 go-live. When we established the original date, we left room for flexibility if needed. As we worked on the project, we identified challenges due to the age of our current system and the structure we have put into place over the years. We also want to make sure we have enough time for change management and training.

Our Nexus teams have been working exceptionally hard and have made great progress. Extending the go-live date will let us work through challenges and prepare for the best outcome.

We are working to update our timeline for both Workday and UKG, which are dependent on one another. Our system readiness date is July 21, 2025. By this date, we are expected to be comfortably ready for go-live, with only training and cutover activities remaining after that. Our new go-live date will be Oct. 1, 2025.
