You Responded with Gratitude!

During this season of giving thanks, we recently asked you to share on Inside Carilion a person or team you are grateful for and why. You responded with resounding gratitude!

We compiled those comments and created a short video highlighting your gratitude. Check out both to see what your colleagues are saying about their Carilion family—and then head into the holiday season knowing you make a difference!

I am thankful for my Peds and PICU team. Every day we come together to provide the best care for our pediatric patients. Everyone on our unit plays an intricate role in care, and we could not do it without them all. I am grateful for my staff taking care of not only the patient, but the patient's family too. — Melissa Wolfe 

I am so grateful for everyone I get to intersect and work with at Carilion – especially the Provider Enrollment team. Over the years I have been blessed to spend time with them. Thankful for the opportunities I have been afforded at Carilion and the ability to continue to grow. — Nicole Grisetti

I am thankful to be part of an amazing team! The staff on Mother Baby 12 South and Birth Response Team are one of a kind. We usually have many patients coming to us and many discharges. They do an awesome job of keeping up with the multitude of patients...all with a smile! — Sandra Chitwood

I am so thankful for the Riverside 3 General Surgery Scheduler team (Sarah Sauceda, Erica Grubb, Marsha Remine, and Stephanie Walters) for such a warm welcome to my new department. I transitioned from BCS after thirteen years and I am so glad I did. These ladies brought me in and made me feel part of the team. Also, I am thankful for my amazing manager Julia Stephens and director Elizabeth Ayers. I couldn't be happier than where I am now. — Amy Cottle

The nurses on the CCU Unit at CRNV are solid as a mountain. We come together as a formidable force every time there is a crisis in the unit (it's a critical care unit so that happens a lot). We work as a team, moving together to alleviate the intense needs a critical patient can present. I have worked in many critical care environments as a nurse of fourteen years, and teamwork is essential for better patient outcomes. Our team is consistently an exemplary picture of this, and I am proud to say that if I had a family member hospitalized on our unit, I would rest assured knowing they were cared for well and compassionately. I am so thankful for my director Aaron Boush who has been so amazing and helpful along my journey with Sickle-Cell Anemia. I wouldn't be where I am with my career without his help along the way. — Kenya Thompson

I am grateful beyond measure for the exceptional talent, collaborations, and compassion-centered care of our Wellness Team here at Carilion. I am grateful, thankful and blessed to have an amazing lab person in our office. She makes a very demanding job seem tireless each day. She always has a smile on her face and takes the time to listen to her patients. She makes them feel at ease and not dread having their labs drawn. I am grateful for my team at OB-GYN CCR3. We are an amazing group. I work from home, along with a few others, but we still stay very connected. Big thanks to management who allowed the opportunity for me to work from home. I miss my work family tremendously but the peace this brought to my family and allowing more flexibility is everything I prayed for.
