Expanding Access to Care: Discover Our Digital Health Innovations

Our Digital Health team brings together experts from across multiple states, including Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Michigan. This team collaborates virtually to meet our patients' needs and provide innovative solutions.

The Digital Health team is committed to improving efficiency and access to high-quality, affordable care at Carilion Clinic. They do this by delivering advanced technology, comprehensive education and reliable data. Here are some of the products and services they offer:

• Amwell Telemedicine Carts: Available at all our hospitals, these carts are equipped with video conferencing capabilities and medical tools for services like tele-dermatology, tele-stroke, tele-neurology, and tele-wound care.
• Quick Connect/Touchpoint Tablets: These secure video conferencing devices, available at each hospital, are used for consultations with the Community Service Board (Blue Ridge Behavioral Health), inpatient consults, tele-chaplaincy and Connect ED evaluations.
• Conversa Program: An automated chat platform that engages patients remotely through text-based conversations, supporting various clinical needs. Currently, it is used for patients undergoing orthopedic hip replacements.
• Tytohome: A home exam kit that includes attachments like an otoscope, stethoscope, and tongue depressor. It has a touchscreen device for capturing images, recording heart and lung sounds and taking temperatures. It's used for Pulmonology services at Fallon Park Elementary School and our Crystal Spring specialty location in Roanoke.
• Tytopro: This device allows nurses to conduct patient visits with off-site clinicians. It’s used in rural family medicine clinics and Home Health. It will soon be available at Hollins University and VelocityCare.
• Carilion Now: A virtual urgent care service for low-acuity patients. For a flat fee of $62, patients can consult with a Carilion or Amwell provider. Patients with Carilion Aetna insurance pay just $20.
• Ceribell: A portable EEG device that quickly identifies non-convulsive seizures. It aims to reduce the need for transfers from community hospitals and shorten patient stays.
• Mobile Health Van: Using the Tytopro device, this service provides in-home visits in rural southwest Virginia. A medical professional completes the assessment with a virtual provider.
