Historic $25 Million Gift Will Advance Cancer Care

This morning, we announced that former Ambassador to Romania Nicholas F. Taubman and his wife, Jenny, have generously donated $25 million to expand our cancer program and establish the Carilion Taubman Cancer Center on our Riverside Campus in Roanoke.

This landmark gift marks a transformative step towards our goal of creating a cutting-edge facility that integrates advanced technology, personalized care, clinical trials and research in a healing environment.

Expanding our cancer program is a strategic priority for us, and we’ve been quietly raising funds toward the project. We are joining with philanthropic partners to make it a reality.

A $1 million seed gift in 2019 from our Chief Executive Officer Nancy Howell Agee and her husband, the Honorable G. Steven Agee, was the catalyst for the project.

With the Taubmans’ gift, the campaign has raised more than $70 million to date. Included in the campaign total is more than $1 million from employees.
