9 Tips to Ensure an Accident-Free Fireworks Experience

  1. Fireworks shows done by trained professionals are the safest option.
  2. Before you buy or use fireworks, know the laws in the area.
  3. Be considerate to neighbors and pets when using explosives and loud noises.
  4. Keep a safe distance between the fireworks launch site and those watching the show; the Department of Homeland Security recommends at least 35 feet for ground-based fireworks. 
  5. Do not let children near fireworks unsupervised.
  6. Make sure to follow the instructions when handling fireworks.
  7. Protect yourself and others by wearing proper clothing.
  8. Ensure proper clean up.
  9. Be prepared with water or a fire extinguisher.
