Carilion Community pharmacy goes beyond for patient!

Last week I had a patient that required an extremely unusual medication. The timing was critical. The patient's insurance required them to use a specific pharmacy. That pharmacy did not have it and could not get it. I called CNRVMC and, although they didn't stock it, they checked the inpatient area of the pharmacy. They found it. Matt and Anna didn't stop there. They found a way that the patient could afford the expensive medication since they were paying cash. In addition, it was late in the afternoon and the patient could not arrive before they closed. Knowing that the start of the medication was so important to the success of the treatment, they coordinated with the inpatient pharmacy to allow the patient to pick it up there. The treatment worked!
